Hey!

Lincoln Road Punkin Season Is Here

Punkin season is finally here! Y’all have been waiting for months for this moment and so have we! Punkin season is the busiest time of year for us at Lincoln Road Coffee Lounge and we’re super pumped about bringing back some of the items we had last year and adding a few new items.

Of course, our most popular menu item during this time of year is the Punkin Latte which is made with a homemade pumpkin syrup. This one is great hot or as a cold brew topped with cold foam. My personal preference is to rock the cold brew, but I drink cold brew everyday no matter if it’s 0 degrees outside. You may think that’s strange but I am strange.

I’m really proud of Kaitlyn and the rest of the LR team to take the extra time to make all of our specialty syrups in house. This makes a huge difference in the quality of product that you get from the lounge. You can taste the love and care that each of our baristas put in to our drinks. They’re incredibly talented and if you haven’t given them a high five lately, you should totally do that ( but please use hand sanitizer first ).

Sooo…..what’s new on this years fall menu?

  • S’mores Cookies | chocolate chip cookies with toasted marshmallows and a sprinkle of graham. Kaitlyn knocked this one out of the park. So delicious.

  • Fireside Latte | latte withhhhhhh……you guessed it……homemade toasted marshmallow syrup, chocolate sauce and a sprinkle of graham ( “you’re killin me smalls” ). This is a must try!

  • Punkin Cinnamon Rolls | if you know you know…..these are amazing

  • Spiced Apple Butter Cold Brew Tea | we’ve been experimenting with a lot of sparkling cold brew teas and excited to put this one on draft at the lounge. It’s made with Asheville Tea Company’s blend of rooibos tea, apples, cinnamon, cloves, orange, and lemon peel

We brought in some great pumpkin ales this year and excited for you to try them out! Our staff blind tasted them last week and we can’t wait to share our YouTube video with you when we finish editing it!

If you’ve been following us for a while, you know that we’ve been making cold brew coffee since 2015. Started selling it in mason jars! Below is one of our first photos launching it on Facebook.

We have pivoted a few times since then but we’re still here making the cold brew you love and enjoy. I have also been experimenting with cold brew teas which I can’t wait to start putting in growlers for y’all. You can find our Hibiscus Mojito tea on draft at the lounge in Norton! We have roughly 100 throwback growler bottles to move through before we launch our new packaging and let me just tell you, I’M PUMPED. As we get closer, we will start putting out more teasers of what to expect.

Ryan Jones, Co-Owner & Co-Founder

We recently celebrated our one year anniversary at Lincoln Road Coffee Lounge in downtown Norton, VA. What a wild year it has been at the lounge. Launching and operating during a pandemic has most certainly been interesting but you Roadies have stepped up and showed your love and support when we needed it most.

We appreciate everyone’s support through these wild times that we’re living in. Our team has had a blast serving you!

Keep doing good things SWVA! Here’s to many more years at the lounge!

French Press Tutorial

Hey y’all! Ryan here. Thought I’d show you how to make a french press!

Don’t over complicate it. Watch these 5 easy steps on our Tik Tok channel to brew and enjoy a good cup of coffee. We like our Colombian medium roast for French press. Click here to purchase the Colombian M Roast 😎☕️

Step 1: Heat your water to 200 degrees - best option is a goose neck kettle - in this video we used @fellowproducts

Step 2: While water is getting to temp, weigh and grind your coffee beans. 2 grams of coffee per fluid oz of water. 1 tablespoon equals 15 grams - so roughly 1 tablespoon per 8oz / 1 cup of water - the downside is that everyone’s tablespoon is a little different and will not be the same every time - will it affect your flavor profile that much? Probably not but give it a go and see what you think. If you Google it, says to do a coarse grind but there’s no rules that say you can’t grind it finer, you’re just going to have more organic matter in your cup and will extract more oils from the beans.

Step 3: Don’t try to be fancy here just pour hot water over the ground beans to soak them and try to evenly agitate the coffee

Step 4: Set a timer for five minutes

Step 5: Plunge it and enjoy!

I like this method because it extracts more flavor and you have more control with water temperature and making sure all the beans get saturated.

Pine Mountain CBD Coffee

JOLT WITHOUT THE JITTERS

Hey Roadies, Ryan here.

As you saw from our last post, we are big on collaborating with Appalachian makers. This next one we’re going to chat about is with CBD. Yes, CBD and coffee blended together that takes you on an epic journey through the mountains of Appalachia. Cannabidiol (CBD) derives from the hemp plant and has been gaining popularity across the globe for its health benefits and chill factor without the high. “CBD is one member of a naturally occurring class of molecules called cannabinoids found in the plant genus Cannabis Sativa. Unlike THC, CBD is a non- psychoactive component of the plant that possesses a wide range of benefits and does not cause a high. Our bodies are made up of an endocannabinoid system and use cannabinoids to maintain healthy cells.” More info here..

Pine Mountain Remedies is a startup CBD company from Letcher County Kentucky that has been growing organic hemp to be processed for unique products like oils, lotions and, of course, coffee. Lets meet the farmer…..

Nathan Hall, Founder of Pine Mountain Remedies

Nathan Hall, Founder of Pine Mountain Remedies

“Nathan Hall, a lifelong Central Appalachian and former coal miner, spent the past several years working on restoration of strip mined mountaintops through reforestation and sustainable agriculture, as well as development of local farmers markets. In 2019, he partnered with some fellow Kentuckians and made the leap into growing hemp in the hollers of Appalachia with a deep commitment to sustainability and product quality. They have now grown to include multiple landowners, several farm workers, and local investors to bring this vision to reality in the form of ultra high quality organic CBD and CBG hemp products.”

We have been really digging their products and asked if they would be interested in collaborating, and they said YES! Our Colombian medium or dark roast is blended with 200mg of CDB to give you a jolt of energy without any jitters. All of the hemp used is certified organic and grown in the Appalachia mountains, how cool is that?! When you purchase their CBD or the coffee collab that means dollars going back in to our economy and helping create new economic opportunities. We’re excited to support them, and hope that our Roadies do the same.

If you’d like to try this coffee out or learn more about Pine Mountain Remedies, I encourage you to head off to their website!
